Description

AVT125 Series — Forged Brass Thermostatic Air Vents

The AVT125 Series Thermostatic Air Vents are forged brass devices designed for removing air and non-condensable gases from steam systems operating up to 125 PSIG. These vents are installed on steam piping, process equipment, and vessels to improve heat transfer efficiency, prevent corrosion, and ensure proper steam distribution. The compact, rugged design makes the AVT125 ideal for general industrial steam applications.

Effective Air Removal for Steam Systems

The AVT125 Series automatically discharges air during system startup and operation while preventing steam loss. When air or condensate is present, the internal thermostatic element remains open. As steam reaches the vent, the element expands and closes tightly, ensuring efficient and reliable air elimination.

Material Specification

  • Body and Cover: Forged Brass
  • Internals: Stainless Steel

Technical Specification

  • Sizes: 1/2", 3/4"
  • Connection: Threaded NPT
  • Orifice Sizes: 0.25", 0.31"
  • Maximum Operating Pressure: 125 PSIG

Operating Principles

When the steam system is cold or air is present, the thermostatic element inside the AVT125 remains contracted, keeping the valve open to vent air and non-condensable gases. As steam reaches the vent, the element expands and closes the valve tightly. When air accumulates again, the element cools and reopens, providing continuous automatic air removal without manual adjustment.

Applications

  • Steam piping and headers
  • Heat exchangers
  • Process equipment and vessels
  • Steam coils and jackets
  • General industrial steam systems

Notes

The AVT125 air vent should be installed at the highest point of the steam system or vessel for optimal air removal. Proper sizing and correct installation location are essential for efficient system performance. Consult factory for application assistance or special requirements.
