Watson McDaniel PBP & PBP5 Series — Back Pressure Pilots for HD Regulators
The PBP and PBP5 Series Back Pressure Pilots are designed for use with Watson McDaniel HD Regulators to maintain constant upstream steam pressure in steam main systems. These pilots are used where excess steam must be relieved to maintain a set pressure upstream of the valve.
Product Overview
PBP Back Pressure Pilots (Standard) provide 1.0 PSIG accuracy for general applications, while PBP5 Back Pressure Pilots (Special) deliver 0.5 PSIG accuracy for low-pressure or precision systems. Each pilot is factory-tested and engineered for long-term reliability and consistent control.
Available Models
- PBP Series — Standard industrial applications (1.0 PSIG accuracy)
- PBP5 Series — Special low-pressure applications (0.5 PSIG accuracy)
- Pressure ranges: 10–25, 20–100, 80–200 PSIG (PBP); 1–10 PSIG (PBP5)
- Spring colors: Yellow, Blue, and Red depending on range
Compatibility
Designed for use with Watson McDaniel HD Regulators in back-pressure control service. Also suitable as direct replacements for select Spence and Spirax Sarco back-pressure pilots where indicated.
Installation Notes
- All installations must be performed by qualified personnel
- BAP-SPACE spacer required for PBP5 Pilots on 3" or 4" valves (sold separately)
- For Spence replacement pilots, add Strainer & Blowdown Valve (BD) per catalog requirement
- Verify model code, pressure range, and spring color before ordering
Note: These pilots are accessories for HD Regulators and are not standalone pressure control valves.
