Description
SVB Series — Bronze Safety Relief Valves (ASME Section VIII UV)
The SVB Series Safety Relief Valves are cast bronze, ASME Section VIII UV certified valves designed for overpressure protection on unfired pressure vessels in saturated steam systems. These valves protect equipment by automatically relieving excess pressure caused by thermal expansion or system overpressure conditions.
Reliable Overpressure Protection
The SVB Series safety relief valves lift proportionally with increasing system pressure in non-compressible fluid applications. In steam, air, or gas service, the valves respond with a rapid full-opening “pop” action to quickly discharge excess pressure and maintain safe operating conditions.
Material Specification
- Body: Cast Bronze
Technical Specification
- Service: Saturated Steam, Air, and Gas
- Certification: ASME Section VIII UV
- Steam Pressure Rating: Up to 250 PSIG
- Air/Gas Pressure Rating: Up to 300 PSIG
- Connections: MNPT Inlet FNPT Outlet
- Operation: Spring-loaded safety relief valve
Operating Principles
Under normal operating conditions, system pressure remains below the valve set pressure and the disc stays seated. When pressure reaches the set point, the valve opens to relieve excess pressure. In steam and gas service, the SVB Series provides a fast-opening pop action for efficient pressure relief. Once pressure is reduced to a safe level, the valve automatically reseats.
SVB Series Models
The SVB Series is available in multiple inlet and outlet size combinations with various orifice sizes to meet required relief capacities. Valves are factory set and tested in accordance with ASME Section VIII code requirements.
Applications
- Unfired pressure vessels
- Saturated steam systems
- Air and gas pressure systems
- Industrial process equipment
- ASME Section VIII coded installations
Notes
Set pressure must be specified when ordering. For metal seats, add 15% to list price. Proper sizing and installation are essential for safe operation and code compliance. Installation should follow ASME and local code requirements. Consult factory for special materials or application guidance.
