Description

SVI Series — Cast Iron Safety Relief Valves with Brass Seat

The SVI Series Safety Relief Valves are cast iron safety valves with a brass seat, designed to provide reliable overpressure protection for unfired pressure vessels and saturated steam systems. These valves are ASME Section VIII “UV” certified and are suitable for steam service where dependable pressure relief is required.

Dependable Overpressure Protection

The SVI Series safety relief valves protect equipment by automatically relieving excess pressure caused by system upset conditions or thermal expansion. When used on steam systems, the valve opens rapidly with a full “pop” action to quickly discharge pressure and prevent damage to vessels and piping.

Material Specification

  • Body: Cast Iron
  • Seat: Brass

Technical Specification

  • Service: Saturated Steam
  • Certification: ASME Section VIII “UV”
  • Maximum Steam Pressure: Up to 250 PSIG
  • Connections: Flanged Inlet × FNPT Outlet
  • Operation: Spring-loaded safety relief valve

Operating Principles

Under normal operating conditions, system pressure remains below the valve set pressure and the disc remains seated. When pressure reaches the set point, the valve opens rapidly to relieve excess pressure. In steam service, the SVI Series produces a fast-opening pop action to ensure effective pressure relief. Once pressure drops to a safe level, the valve automatically reseats.

SVI Series Models

The SVI Series is available in a wide range of inlet and outlet size combinations with multiple orifice sizes to meet required relief capacities. Valves are factory set and tested in accordance with ASME Section VIII code requirements.

Applications

  • Unfired pressure vessels
  • Saturated steam systems
  • Industrial boilers
  • Process equipment
  • ASME Section VIII coded installations

Notes

Set pressure must be specified when ordering. Proper sizing and installation are essential to ensure safe operation and code compliance. Installation should conform to ASME and local code requirements. Consult factory for special materials, service conditions, or application guidance.
