Description
WVBSS Series — Stainless Steel Vacuum Breakers
The WVBSS Series Vacuum Breakers are stainless steel devices designed to prevent the formation of unwanted vacuum conditions in steam and liquid systems. Commonly installed on heat exchangers, air coils, jacketed vessels, presses, and piping systems, these vacuum breakers protect equipment from collapse, flow interruption, and condensate drainage problems caused by vacuum formation.
Reliable Vacuum Protection
The WVBSS Series allows atmospheric air to enter the system whenever internal pressure drops below atmospheric levels. This action quickly breaks vacuum conditions that can occur during steam condensation or when liquid is pumped out of a closed vessel, ensuring safe and stable system operation.
Material Specification
- Body: Stainless Steel
Technical Specification
- Sizes: 1/2"
- Connection: Threaded NPT
- Maximum Operating Pressure: 300 PSIG
Operating Principles
When system pressure falls below atmospheric pressure, the internal valve of the WVBSS vacuum breaker opens automatically, allowing air to enter and equalize pressure. Once normal pressure is restored, the valve closes to prevent steam or fluid leakage. This automatic operation ensures protection without requiring external controls or manual intervention.
WVBSS Series Models
| Size / Connection | Model Code | PMO (PSIG) | Weight (lbs) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1/2" NPT | WVBSS-12-N | 300 | 0.75 |
Applications
- Heat exchangers
- Air coils and steam coils
- Jacketed vessels and tanks
- Steam and condensate piping systems
- Liquid pumping and drainage systems
Notes
The WVBSS vacuum breaker should be installed at the highest point of the system or vessel to ensure proper vacuum relief. Proper installation is critical for effective operation and equipment protection. Consult factory for application guidance or special service conditions.
